School District Text/email Alert Notifications

In an effort to improve communications the Manchester School District has been working with the Manchester Information Systems, Police, Fire and the Health Departments on a text/email alert notification system.

We have finished our initial setup and testing and now invite parents, students, staff or any interested community members to participate. School District alerts to the community will be pertaining to weather or building related problems.

The various Manchester agencies are using the Nixle municipal communication system to send out alerts. The Nixle system also feeds text alerts to the Twitter system. If you already use Twitter you can find the link to sign up for the District feed on the Manchester.gov link below. If you are not currently using Twitter it is recommended that you sign up for a Nixle account and get the information directly from the source.

People who wish to sign up for Nixle can choose to receive email and/or cell phone text alerts from the School District and other Manchester agencies. Nixle is free but if you choose the text option your standard text message rates apply from your cell provider.

To make sure you get updates from the School District you need to select the option on Nixle. After you sign up on your settings tab you will find the choices of what type of updates you can get from the different Manchester agencies. The default list of agencies is determined by the address information you entered. You can edit notification choices and add or edit locations or cell number at any time.
