Smyth Road School Newsletter March 2025

March News:

Kindergarten/New Student Registration: Students ready to enter Kindergarten and students who will be new to Smyth Road can be registered online starting in mid-April. Here are the guidelines for registration from the Manchester School District website: Manchester School District uses an online portal for student registration. Here is some basic information on student registration:

  • If your student has never attended school in the Manchester School District, or is returning to the district after attending another school, you must register.

  • You do not need to re-register current students – registration carries over from year to year.

  • Students must be 5 years old by September 30 in order to register to start kindergarten that year.

The registration portal is open for ONLY the current school year at this time. Registration for new students for the 2025-2026 school year will open this spring.

Here are directions for when the portal opens: Using a desktop or laptop computer, go to mansd.org and click on the link “Register a Student.”

If you do not have a computer (phones will not work for registration), you can come to Smyth Road on Wednesday, April 16th between the hours of 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.-2:30 p.m. We will have computers set up so you can complete the registration packet. We will also have some paper registration packets if needed. It is very important to register early and make sure your registration packet is complete. For the past several years, our Kindergarten classes have filled up early, and we have had to enroll late registrations in other Manchester schools.

BIG NEWS: Due to a last-minute glitch with Central High School’s auditorium, we had to change our date and venue for the Smyth Rd Show. We now will be performing at the historic PALACE THEATRE on Wednesday, April 2nd at 6:30 p.m. It is a day earlier than planned, but that is all they had for open dates. This will be a very exciting and memorable opportunity for our students! Please be on the lookout for ticket information that will be released soon!!!!

Report cards: Our second trimester report cards will be issued on Thursday, April 3rd.  Again, the report card copy will be yours to keep, but please sign and return the envelope.

P.T.O News: The next meeting is Thursday, March 13th from 6-7 p.m. in the Smyth Rd. Library.

Some Reminders:

  • Each day there are MANY students who are not picked up on time, and often are not picked up until well after dismissal. Our dismissal is at 2:50 p.m. Please make arrangements to have your children picked up on time.

  • We realize families need to travel during non-school vacation times. We realize there are circumstances that can’t be avoided that lead to travel or vacation times during school. However, vacation days during school hours are still recorded as unexcused absences.

Student of the Month: We had our February student of the month assembly before vacation! Students were recognized for their positive energy, great work ethic, and kind words and deeds. The students of the month will receive a special certificate, and they also will be featured on the bulletin board in the main hallway.
