Dear families,
As the Manchester School District settles in to the new year, we want to reaffirm our commitment to safe and supportive learning environments. We work to continually improve our schools and focus on conflict resolution to promote a culture of respect and diversity. School safety is a critical element. In an effort to be proactive and preventative, we have instituted a new reporting form to help us manage and respond to school and personal safety concerns.
The School Safety Concern Reporting Form can be accessed online at www.mansd.org/forms and MPowerManchester.org. The purpose of the form is to report potential threats against a school community or individual student(s). This form is only monitored during school hours and should not be used in an emergency situation. If you have an emergency, call 911. The District does not require any personal information so reports can be made confidentially. Form submissions will be reviewed by Safety Assessment and Intervention Teams at each school who are trained to respond to reports.
The Manchester Police Department STOP School Violence team and the District’s Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education) team are working in collaboration to provide safe schools in our community.
Additionally, the recently launched M-Power campaign is helping to drive these violence prevention efforts by encouraging students to reach out and connect to behavioral health services and speak up if there is a concern about school safety.
We thank you for your support in creating safer school environments.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Chmiel, Ed.D,
Superintendent of Schools
