MANCHESTER – Manchester Central High School senior Akshay Manchanda has been recognized as a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Central Principal Deb Roukey presented Akshay with an official Letter of Commendation on September 20 at the school.
“I am proud of my hard work and happy to be recognized nationally as a Commended National Merit Scholar,” Manchanda said.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“Akshay is an amazing young man who continues to take advantage of any and all opportunities to grow as a learner and challenge himself both in and out of the classroom,” said Central Principal Roukey “Central is very proud of his accomplishments and can’t wait to see what his future holds.”
“We would like to congratulate Akshay on this outstanding achievement, especially as he begins what I’m sure will be a memorable senior year,” said Superintendent of Schools Jennifer Chmiel Gillis. “We are so excited to see what comes next for him.”
