MANCHESTER – Each spring, teams from across Manchester School District complete in the Walk Against Hunger, to benefit Families in Transition. Many schools – as well as the district office – have teams that participate.
In total, district staff raised $9,466.75 for Families in Transition this year. That brings the overall total raised by our staff over the last 7 years to more than $84,000. At Monday's Board of School Committee meeting, Michelle Casale, of Families in Transition, joined Committee Member Leslie Want to present awards to standouts from this year's Walk.
Those awards include the top fund-raising team, the top individual fund-raiser and the team with the highest percentage of employees participating. The award winners for 2024 are:
Top Fundraising Team: West High School (Captain Josh Wilson)
Top Individual Fundraiser: Josh Wilson, West High School
Team with Highest Percentage of Participation: Northwest Elementary School
Northwest didn't just participate in the official Walk, either. Team Captain Mary McKee also organized a school-wide walk to support the school's efforts.
Thank you to all of our staff for your efforts, and great work by Committee Member Want, who once again led the District's participation.
